Acts242: Devoted to the Apostles' Teaching
Acts 2:42 in the NASB95 translation reads "They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." But within a short time false teachers started "drawing away disciples after themselves" to such a degree that the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." The time the apostle spoke of was then...but it also is now.
We want the spirit of Acts 2:42 for ourselves, not the spirit of modern Christianity. We therefore want to devote ourselves to the apostles teaching, to fellowship, to breaking bread, and to prayer. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." While true and final satisfaction awaits glory, God does reward those who seek Him now. As much as I am able as God gives me light and liberty, I plan to share those things of the apostles teaching with you all to aid in that journey.

Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;

This episode begins a series looking into the differences between Catholics and Protestants. The most fundamental of these differences which leads to all others is the difference called Sola Scriptura. Do you believe that the scriptures are alone sufficient and that you can understand them yourself? Or do you believe that you need tradition and church teachings and high church authority to interpret it all for you? This episode goes into what a Catholic believes on this point...then holds an examination from the Word of God.
